eBooks can be reserved through cloudLibrary which can be accessed via the Digital Library page on the Sarasota County Library website. Please see the steps below for reserving eBooks through this service, both in a web browser and through the mobile app.
Note: Hoopla has no limits on item availability so any material can be checked out any number of times at once. Patrons have a monthly check out limit of 10 on Hoopla.
Desktop and Mobile App Instructions:
Desktop Instructions
1. Navigate to an item you would like to check out and click on it.
2. A viewing window will open. If the item is available to borrow, you will be able to click the small blue "Borrow" button and will not need to place a hold on the item. If the item is unavailable, click the small blue "Place Hold" link on the right.
3. If this is your first time placing a hold, you will be asked if you would like to be notified when the item is ready. If you select "Yes", enter your email address in the field that appears. Select "Place Hold" when you are finished.
4. CloudLibrary will send you an email with a link asking you to verify your email address. Once you have done so, you will receive email notifications when items on hold are ready for checkout.
Mobile App Instructions
1. Navigate to an item you would like to check out and select it. If it is unavailable, select the blue "Hold" link.
2. If it is your first time placing a hold, you will see a window asking if you would like to enable email notifications.
3. If you select "Yes", the next screen will give you options to adjust your notification settings. After you hit "Apply", the hold will be placed. Further holds will not require you to go through the notification steps again.
