How do I conduct research at the History Center?

Answer

Our research facility and staff offices are located in the Osprey Library at 337 N Tamiami Trail in Osprey.

No appointment is required, but be advised that some collection material is stored offsite and must be brought to Osprey for you to use it. Staff recommend contacting the History Center at least three business days in advance to make sure the materials you want to use are available.

When you arrive, staff will greet you and walk you through the material that has been pulled for you. If necessary, gloves and other protective measures will be provided for you.

If you are a walk-in and do not have an appointment, a staff member will sit down with you and ask you some questions about your research interest. This inquiry interview is done to determine how we may best serve you with the materials in our collection.

The History Center is open Monday through Thursday from 10AM - 5PM and Saturday from 10AM - 2PM. Our office is closed to the public on Friday and Sunday.
