Filing for unemployment(also called re-employment assistance), goes through the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. Their "Apply for Benefits" page is linked here.

To contact the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity directly, you can:
- Call the hotline at 1-800-204-2418.
- Call the General Information Number at 850-245-7105
- Use their help center linked here to email your office of choice
- To access the email click on the "Remployment Assistance Help Center" link and it will take you through a series of FAQ prompts. If your question cannot be answered through an FAQ than, you will be provided with a contact page where you can put your information and an agent will get back to you.
Another alternative is Career Source Suncoast. They have information for searching for jobs, hiring events, SNAP, and more including "Reemployment Assistance".
Their "contact us" page provides a web form to email them, as well as their three Career Center locations and phone numbers.

Closure Notice
Fruitville Renovation
Renovations and expansion building works will be happening at Fruitville Library, which will require Fruitville Library to temporarily close on Dec. 18. The reimagined library is scheduled to reopen in July 2026.
Holds Pickup Interruption at Fruitville Library
With the closure of the Fruitville Library, there will be a brief period over the holidays when you will be unable to pick up your holds.
To ensure you receive your long-awaited items, please pick them up by 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Our portable library pickup option will be available in early January.
If you prefer, you may also change your hold pickup location to another library before that date. If you need assistance updating your pickup location, please call 941-861-1110.
