Each of the Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources have a Friends organization.
Friends are active advocates of the library, helping raise community awareness and appreciation of services and resources. They volunteer to assist with bookstores, events, advocacy/marketing and more. You can also ask at your local library for more details.

Closure Notice
Fruitville Renovation
Renovations and expansion building works will be happening at Fruitville Library, which will require Fruitville Library to temporarily close beginning Dec. 18. The reimagined library is scheduled to reopen in July 2026.
Holds Pickup Interruption at Fruitville Library
With the closure of the Fruitville Library, there will be a brief period over the holidays when you will be unable to pick up your holds.
Our portable library pickup option will be available in early January.
If you prefer, you may change your hold pickup location to another library before that date. If you need assistance updating your pickup location, please call 941-861-1110.
