The Sarasota County Library's genealogy websites and subscription databases are found on the Digital Library page - click on the "Genealogy" heading.

The list of genealogy resources in our Digital Library includes:

  • Ancestry Library Edition*
  • American Ancestors
  • Fold3 by Ancestry
  • HathiTrust
  • HeritageQuest Online
  • FamilySearch*
  • FirstSearch*
  • Sarasota County Historical Resources is also a great source!

*This resource must be accessed inside the library. View the Digital Library page for specific locations.

Tutorials for some of these resources are linked below the resources' descriptions on the Digital Library page.

  1. Does this library has a Genealogy group that meets at least once a month?

  2. Thanks for asking! Sarasota County Libraries have various workshops/trainings provided by subject experts at times. Check the library's events calendar (https://scgovlibrary.librarymarket.com/events/month) and use the keyword "genealogy" to find these listings. For regular meetings, you might like to connect with the Genealogical Society of Sarasota: https://www.gssfl.org/ According to their website, they meet at the Gulf Gate Library on the 2nd Saturday of each month.
