Sarasota County Libraries subscribes to Mango Languages, an online language-learning program teaching conversation skills for more than 70 languages and English as a Second Language for speakers of 19 languages.
Mango, along with our other databases and online resources, can be found by visiting the Digital Library page on the library website. Note: It can be easiest to create an account through the link on our website as it includes our special access link.
1. Scroll down to and click on the Languages subject area, then click on Mango Languages. You can also view a tutorial for getting started on using the service.
2. The link will take you to the Sarasota County homepage for Mango Languages. If you already have an account, you can sign in from here. If you need to create an account, click Sign Up at the bottom. (You may use Mango as a "guest," but your progress within lessons will not be saved.)
3. Enter your email address, and a password to log into Mango Languages with, then select Sign Up.
Note: You will enter your library card number in a separate step.
4. Select the first language you would like to start learning!.
5. Locate the menu icon to view your account settings.
6. Click the Organizations option. Confirm that Sarasota County is listed.
7. Click the back button to resume your language learning experience. Click the language name to browse/select another language.
Login on the app
1. Search for Mango Languages in your device's app store. Follow the prompts to install the app on your device.
2. Open the app.
3. If you already have an account, tap Log In (You may also associate your current account with our library).
If you do not have an account, tap Start Learning, then tap Skip to Signup and follow the prompts to create an account.
4. Confirm your account is associate with Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources.
- Tap the menu icon (3 dashes), which may be in the upper right corner of the app.
- Look for Organizations or Unlock More Lessons.
- If Organizations is listed, tap Organizations and confirm Sarasota County Libraries is listed. If we are not listed, use a web browser to login with the Mango Languages link on SarasotaCountyLibraries.org/DigitalLibrary.
- If Unlock More Lessons is listed, tap Unlock More Lessons.
- Next to Find Free Mango, tap Search.
- In the search box at the top of the screen, type sarasota (or use the Search Nearby option).
- Tap Sarasota County Libraries.
- Type your library card number.
