Flipster is a digital magazine distribution service that offers magazines from a variety of publishers that can be read online.
Flipster can be accessed from the Sarasota County Library System's website, in the Digital Library section. You can find it under the Books and Reading, eBooks and Downloads, and Newspaper, Magazine, and Journal Articles subject areas. You will need your library card number to get started:
1. Enter your library card number in the box for Patron ID. This will take you to Flipster's home page.
2. From the home page, you can select the latest featured titles, search by selecting subjects in the sidebar, or using the keyword search to find what you are looking for.
3. For example, if you are looking for The New Yorker, type "the new yorker" into the search box. Click on the result to be taken directly to the reader.
4. Reader options are located on the right side of the screen:
- All Issues (to view back issues of the chosen publication)
- Pages (to see a preview of and skip to other pages)
- Zoom (enlarge or shrink)
- Left and right arrows (move by individual pages)
- Print (select pages of the publication to print)
- Settings (to change viewing options)
