Most government documents are available online through one of these resources:
- GovInfo is a comprehensive federal digital repository for current and archival full-text documents from all branches of government. It is provided and maintained by the Government Printing Office (GPO).
- Catalog of U.S. Government Publications is a searchable database of federal publications that includes links to any publications available online. If a publication is not available online, you can then use their online tool to locate the closest library with copies of it.
- Google can be used to search by title or Sudoc number. If you type in either the title or the Sudoc number of the government document you’re looking for, it should appear as one of the first entries.
Full-text versions of documents from the following categories are also available online:
- Code of Federal Regulations
- Congressional Record
- Congressional Hearings
- Economic Indicators
- United States Code
- Public Papers of the Presidents
- Social Security Bulletin
- Budget of the United States Government
- Occupational Outlook Handbook
- Health, United States
- Digest of Education Statistics
- Agricultural Statistics
- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
- Bureau of Labor Statistics
- Economic Reports of the Presidents
- Daily Compilation of Presidential Document
- Constitution of the United States of America: Analysis and Interpretation
- Federal Register
- Social Security Handbook
- United States Statutes at Large
- United States Government Manual
- United States Reports - The Supreme Court
There are some libraries in the Tampa Bay Area who do still have physical copies of government documents, though most of the collections are limited. Please see the list below for locations and contact information for these libraries. To find a complete list of libraries in Florida with government documents, please visit the U.S. Government Publishing Office webpage, and scroll down to find "Locate a Federal Depository Library". Click on that box, and then on the next page, type "Florida" into the search bar, and hit search. You should then see a list of all the federal depository libraries in FL.
