Sarasota County Historical Resources offers access to past issues of the Venice Gondolier through two databases:
- NewspaperArchive (accessible at the History Center) offers digital access to issues from 1946 to 1977.
- The Florida Digital Newspaper Library offers free digital access to issues from 1946 to 1949, plus 1964.
Bound volumes of the Venice Gondolier from 1946-1986, as well as the Venice Gondolier Digital Library Collection, can be accessed upon request at the Venice Museum and Archives.

Fruitville Renovation
Renovations and expansion building works will be happening at Fruitville Library, which will require Fruitville Library to temporarily close on Dec. 18. The reimagined library is scheduled to reopen in July 2026.
Holds Pickup Interruption at Fruitville Library
With the closure of the Fruitville Library, there will be a brief period over the holidays when you will be unable to pick up your holds.
To ensure you receive your long-awaited items, please pick them up by 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Our portable library pickup option will be available in early January.
If you prefer, you may also change your hold pickup location to another library before that date. If you need assistance updating your pickup location, please call 941-861-1110.
