AARP offers free tax return services in North Kitsap | Kitsap ...

AARP will be returning to two library locations to offer free tax aide services for the year 2020 in February 2021. Tax help will be conducted remotely this year and is by appointment only. There will be no face-to-face tax assistance. AARP does require that you wear a mask to use this service.

Please note that not all libraries that have offered AARP Tax Aide in the past will be doing so this year. The following two libraries will be offering AARP Tax Aide this year:

AARP's Tax Aide will work a little differently at each library location. For more information, including how to schedule an appointment with AARP at each library, please see below.

  1. The Selby library was a completely unorganized zoo atmosphere today. I waited two hours standing outside with people in wheelchairs and on walkers. Surely the process could be smoother.

  2. Hello Sunshine, Thank you so much for taking the time to offer your comment. I hope to give you an update to assure you that AARP is doing what they can to adjust to the popularity of their tax-aide program during the pandemic. Because of Covid-19, there are also less AARP tax assistants. They were not prepared for the large number of people showing up to make in-person appointments. As of 2/22/21, AARP switched to a different method - to make appointments over the telephone instead of in person. This FAQ gives that updated info (where and when to call). There are also some alternative options, such as the United Way's VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program, also listed on the FAQ. The FAQs are being maintained scrupulously so that it's kept up to date when changes occur. Please feel free to contact us anytime through chat, email, texting on Ask Us, or in person at any Sarasota County library location. You can also call us at 941-861-1110 during regular library hours. Again, we appreciate your feedback. Thank you again! -Cathay
