If you're having trouble with a website either not loading or not loading correctly, there are a couple of options you can try to fix this. (If you're on one of the library's public computers, only the first option will apply)
- Try a different browser. Some websites just work better (or will only work) in certain browsers.
- If you have a computer with Windows 8 or earlier versions, your computer would have come with the Internet Explorer browser. If your computer has Windows 10 or later, it would have come with Microsoft Edge. If you have a computer with the Mac OS, then you'll have the Safari browser. You can download and use other browsers on your computer. Google Chrome and Firefox are free browsers that can be downloaded onto any computer.
- Note about Internet Explorer: Internet Explorer is no longer a supported/updated browser. If it is your primary Internet browser, you will likely need to download another of the listed options for most websites to function.
- Our public computers have both Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browsers installed.
- Clear the cache and cookies in your browser. Click on the name of the browser for instructions on how to do this in each browser: Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari.
- Our public computers are already programmed not to save any of this data and do not allow access to these settings.
If none of these work, then there might be an issue with the website that is preventing it from loading correctly, or it could be that too many people are trying to access the website at one time. In either case, it's best to wait a while and try to access it later. This will either give the creators of the website time to fix the problem or if there are too many people currently trying to use the website then it will give them time to finish what they're doing and leave the site.
If you're having trouble accessing one of our websites or services, please let us know. You can call us at 941-861-1110, text us at 941-413-2044, or we're available for online chat or email here. If you're in the library, you can also find a staff member at one of the service desks and let them know about the issue.
