Sarasota County Libraries offers online and in-house resources for helping students who are in school.

In-House
There are many programs, events and in-person resources.  Click here for the library's Calendar of Events, or ask the librarian for details when you come for a visit.  We're happy to showcase all that we can offer and tailor this to meet the needs of your specific class.

If you'd like to arrange a tour or visit with your class, please contact us at 941-861-1110.  We'll get you in touch with the youth services librarian at your chosen location. There are ten public libraries in Sarasota County - all are open and welcome you.  Here's a link to the hours/locations.

If students/teachers need access to the public computers, please be aware that seating is spread out for distancing, keyboards and mice have disposable plastic covers, and there is a time limit of 1 hour with an optional additional hour if no one is waiting.  At this time, printing and copying are free.  Students can walk up to any open "available" computer.

Libraries also have free wifi and patrons can print from their devices or from the public access computers.  Printing is currently free, for up to 30 pages a day. Here's a link to the webpage for mobile printing.

Online
We also have resources and services, such as databases and library-staffed chat for homework help.  Ask Us is an online library service that provides chat, texting and emailing. Ask Us is linked on every library webpage.  Chat is available during regular library hours.

Patrons/students can use this from within the library, at home or anywhere they have an internet connection.  Library staff assist just like they would if the student approached the librarian at the desk.  If you'd like to set up a 'virtual visit' to Ask Us, please call 941-861-1110 or email/text us through Ask Us.

Libraries have a robust amount of databases and resources all our patrons can access and use remotely from home, in a school or library, or anywhere you have an internet connection. Just log on to the particular resource/database you need through the Digital Library.

Our newest database, Brainfuse HelpNow , is an all-in-one online tutoring suite featuring live tutoring, a writing lab, study help and games, lessons, practice tests, career resources, college preparation help, and much more. Brainfuse HelpNow is one of our online resources available for Sarasota County library card holders.

These resources and more are offered for a variety of subjects through our Digital Library.

We're here to help and love to work with schools, teachers, and students of all ages!
