The Literacy Volunteers can be contacted directly at the libraries and information listed above. Library study rooms at these and other branches are often used for tutoring purposes.

Free services offered range from one-on-one tutoring to small group classes, including a course dedicated to passing the US citizenship exam. This organization teaches English to individuals from all over the world, from Europe to South America. Training in basic computer skills is also available for students and volunteers.

Those looking to offer their services as a volunteer tutor with this organization can click here for more information.

The Literacy Council of Sarasota can be found at:

1750 17th St. Building K-3
Sarasota, FL 34234

Their phone number is 941-955-0421

While the Literacy Council is not directly affiliated with the Libraries in the same manner as the South Sarasota organization, we are joined by our efforts to educate our community.

Literacy Volunteers will often make use of our free study rooms and table space for one-on-one sessions.

After a $25 registration fee, patrons are offered services ranging from small group classes to individual tutoring. This group also offers specific programs for patrons looking to learn English for work, family, financial reasons, and so much more. Information on these special programs can be found by clicking here

Spanish to English tutoring is the primary focus of the group, but resources are offered to individuals from any country.

Those looking to offer their services as tutors can follow this link for more information.
