When searching for an item in the library catalog, you can search by:

  • All
  • Author
  • Concept
  • Series
  • Title

Search by All and Refine Results

The search bar will default to All. If you are searching for an item based on a topic or subject, we would recommend searching by All or Concept and then you can narrow the search results from there.

For example: I searched "painting" under All and have 4,000+ results. On the left-hand side of the catalog is Refine Results.

There are several ways to refine your search:

  • Availability (At the Library or Online)
  • Date (Year to Year publication)
  • Format (Book, DVD, Large Print, Audiobook on CD, etc.)
  • Collections (Adult Nonfiction, Adult Fiction, Large Print Fiction, Juvenile Nonfiction, Juvenile Picture Book, etc.)
  • Age Group (Juvenile, Preteen, Teen Adult, etc.)
  • Literary Form (Non-Fiction, Fiction, etc.)
  • Language
  • Library Locations
  • Publishers

To narrow the results from 4,000+ down to 55 results, I narrowed down the search by:

  • Available at the Library
  • Date (2023-2025) publication
  • Format: Book
  • Collections: Adult Nonfiction
